Key Issues
Key issues for the area's regional police service:
- White Township has NO local police service.
- Relies solely on the Pennsylvania State Police for enforcement.
- The response time for State Police is often excessive.
- Three bills to charge localities for State Police service have been proposed in the General Assembly in Harrisburg; passage of any of the bills would cost White Township tens of thousands of dollars
[PA House bills 1500 and 747 and Senate bill 984].
My Commitment to Solve:
- Take the money the Township would have to spend on State Police and use it within our municipality by collaborating with the Indiana Borough Police.
- If elected I will personally work with local and state representatives to locate and implement these grant programs to help offset the cost.
- COPS Universal Hiring Grant Program
- D.A.R.E. Program
- Municipal Seat Belt and Child Restraint Education & Enforcement Programs.
- Enforce our local laws and local codes.

Key issues for White’s Woods:
- The incumbent supervisors support excessive timbering in this area over the next 10 years, with 229 of the 245 acres being harvested.
- They intend to thin the deer herd with bow and arrow and/or muzzleloader hunting.
- They plan to construct demonstration areas along White’s Woods trails to educate people about forest harvest and management procedure without planning for funding the programs.
My Commitment to Solve:
- Preserve White’s Woods as a nature park. This will coincide with the Project 70, Land Acquisition and Borrowing Act, that was used to purchase the land.
- Research the history of White’s Woods and build a replica of the original home settlement and have education programs in the house.
- Research feasibility of utilizing wild animal birth control procedures as an alternative prior to rushing to thin the deer population with bow and arrow and/or muzzleloader hunting.
Key issues for protecting property values:
- No White Township ordinances are currently in place to protect homeowners’ property values.
- There is inconsistent usage of the current Code Enforcement Laws.
- There are currently no zoning regulations that would prevent a large and noisy business to locate in residential neighborhoods; this will be a concern as the township commercial areas expand.
My Commitment to Solve:
- Work with local and county representatives to implement policies to protect your property value.
- Be actively involved in making sure local police service as well as the Code Enforcement Officer are enforcing the laws within White Township.
- Actively work together to implement a zoning ordinance for White Township.
