James Dixon Army Portrait, 17 years old, 1983Biography

I currently reside in Indiana, PA and have for almost four years.  I received degrees in both Accounting and Interior Design.  I furthered my education by attending the Art Institute of Atlanta, specializing in floral design.  I have used this knowledge to open, run successfully - and profit from - three businesses.

I am employed as one of the managers at the Bon-Ton Department Store at the Indiana Mall. Being one of the managers, I have taken on additional responsibilities, some of which include organizing, collaborating, and executing fashion, bridal, and specialty shows. I have also served in the Armed Services as a 2nd Lieutenant for the Army National Guard.

Achievements:

  • Initiated bi-annual charity event fashion show to raise money for Relay for Life for the Breast Cancer Society.
  • Elected Vice-President and then President of West Tennessee Floral Association with membership of over 200 stores.
  • Created, consulted, set up, and executed local pageants where winners advanced to state competitions.
  • Created, set up, and designed tour-of-homes events for Christmas holidays.

Volunteer Activities:

2002 – current Relay for Life bi-annual charity events
2005 – current

Fundraising and event planning for the Indiana County Humane Society
Appointed to the Board of Directors in 2009

2006 – current President of the Indiana Players, Inc.
2007 – current  Member of the Indiana Arts Council
2008 – current Volunteer for the Indiana County Democratic Party

When I am not busy with work and other activities I set up visual displays for local museum gatherings, club functions, and government offices.
